Toronto and the GTA are not one search area
Downtown Toronto, Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, Mississauga, Brampton and Vaughan may all appear in a broad GTA search. Start with the place you can reach without turning the meeting into a long commute.
Downtown and the old City of Toronto
A public place near a subway station makes a simple first meeting. If neither person lives downtown, decide who is travelling before discussing anything private.
North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke
Use the district or nearest major intersection. Two Toronto addresses can still be a long drive or several transit connections apart.
Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan and beyond
List the actual municipality. Do not assume someone will cross the 401, take multiple buses or drive across the GTA for a tentative plan.
Make the location honest
- Use the municipality or neighbourhood where you will be.
- State whether you drive, use transit, can host or need a neutral location.
- Check recent activity and read the full profile.
- Keep the first message direct and respectful.
- Review local results before paying for additional access.
Plan the trip home
Subway, GO Transit and local buses run on different schedules. Check the return trip before leaving, especially when the meeting crosses municipal boundaries.
Protect your identity
Use a separate email and avoid photos showing a workplace, licence plate or home exterior. Do not share an exact address until you have verified the person and the plan.
Before meeting
- Confirm that everyone is 18 or older.
- Meet in public first.
- Tell someone where you are going.
- Keep control of your transportation and use protection.
- Leave if the person or circumstances are not what you agreed to.
