A profile across the harbour or on the other side of the city may not be a realistic same-night option. Search the area where you are staying, then widen the radius only if you are willing to make the trip.
CBD, Surry Hills and the inner east
Central stations and busy venues make these areas convenient for a short public meeting before anyone decides what happens next. Visitors should say where they are staying and how long they will be in town.
Inner west
Newtown, Enmore and Marrickville are better treated as their own area. Someone based there may prefer a nearby meeting instead of going through the CBD for a tentative plan.
North Shore and outer suburbs
Cross-harbour and longer suburban trips need an actual time and route. “Sydney” alone does not tell the other person whether the meeting is practical.
Set expectations before discussing a meeting
- Use your suburb or the district where you will be that night.
- Say whether you are local, visiting, able to host or willing to travel.
- Prioritise profiles with recent activity and a written description.

Plan the return trip first
